Visit Les Clés du Val d'Argent, the Val d'Argent Architecture and Heritage Interpretation Center (CIAP)
The Communauté de Communes du Val d'Argent, which has been awarded the "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire" label, has set up its Centre d'Interprétation de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine (CIAP) on the 1st floor of the former Edler Lepavec textile factory in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines.
The CIAP gives you the keys to understanding the landscape and architectural evolution of the Val d'Argent, through its history.
The CIAP exhibition is based on a relief map, an animated digital tool that allows you to discover the geographical and geological context of the area. It is then organized into five thematic cabinets, equipped with multimedia devices, explaining the landscape imprints left by the presence of frontiers, industrial and agricultural activities. The exhibition concludes with a presentation of contemporary land-use planning trends.
The CIAP also offers temporary exhibitions on local history themes throughout the year.
Visits must be booked in advance.
Length of visit: 45 minutes / 1 hour.
The CIAP from October to December 2025 due to work on the building.
Distance (km) to nearest station: 20
