Lac Blanc is the Vosges mountains in winter, just a stone's throw from the Kaysersberg Valley. Here, snow covers the forest and the ridges, and the resort remains on a human scale: people come here to breathe, walk, glide, and enjoy the scenery as much as the activity itself.
Park the car, strap on your cross-country skis, and set off on a trail that winds through the snow. Your breathing evens out, you find your rhythm, and everyday life stays far below.
Want to try something different? ESF instructors offer introductions to Nordic skiing and even biathlon: glide, catch your breath, take aim. It’s a sport you rarely get to try on vacation, but it quickly becomes a fun challenge with friends or family.
For a more leisurely experience, the snowshoe trails lead to viewpoints that are well worth the climb. You move along at a leisurely pace, stopping whenever the scenery calls for it.
As for the kids, they never get tired of the two sledding runs: a descent they’ll do “one last time”—three times in a row.
Then comes the best part: warming up. Hot chocolate for frozen hands, a Munster cheese gratin for the hungry, and we relive the day around the table, cheeks red and boots still full of snow.
